Every time there is a tragedy, humanity turns to God, but they do not always turn to God in their sadness and sorrow for comfort. Many times the screams are filled with anger and hatred. Disappointment. Confusion.
We especially turn to God in anger when the pain seems undeserved, horrific, unnecessary, or simply devastating. When the pain involves our little ones, we cry out to God, wondering; “Why, God? Why.” Images of the Newtown shooting or the tornado that ripped through Oklahoma break my heart and bring tears to my eyes. As a father, I just anguish at the thought of the pain, the rubble — I think of my child.
